Holiday Happenings with Santa in 2022

SANTA was more than super busy in Villa Park during the holiday season with VPCS Foundation special events.  On December 3rd, he was joined by VP City Council ‘Elves” to greet about 900 believers as they toured the city by Fire Engine.  Then, in disguise, he took off his boots and joined lots of cool kids ice skating and throwing snow balls at the Winter Wonderland event in front of City Hall. He even helped decorated a tree at City Hall for the Community Forest organized by the VP Women’s League.

While the weather outside was frightful during the day, Santa used his magic powers to make it delightful during the evening for the Dryland Boat Parade on December 11th. The Chad Zimmerman Family, as Grand Marshals, led the fabulously decorated entourage of 18 vessels on our asphalt harbor.  Yes, they were cheered on by many folks lined up along the extensive route as they noted the 2022 award winners that included:  George Castagna (Best Use of Lights), Tropical Plaza/Lucas Fields (Best Holiday Spirit), Enviro-Care Pest and Termite Control (Most Original), Ben Arsenian (Best Overall and VPHS Football Team (Best Youth Group).

His usual elf crew was busy at the North Pole, but SANTA was so pleased with the many organizers and volunteers that aided his holiday efforts in Villa Park including the OC Sheriff and Fire Department.  VPCSF Event Chair, Forrest Case, was definitely on his good list for his amazing efforts that were shared with Ed Carter, Eric Sense, Bill Baker, Marianne Koepnick, Diane Rothi, Jill Kuli, Chuck Niemann, Beth Riley, Tamsen Reinheimer, Robert Frackelton, and Mark Kuli along with the VP City Council members Crystal Miles, Jordan Wu, Nicole Jones and Robbie Pitts.

Oh, he did not miss observing Hannukah with his friends from the Chabads of Tustin and Yorba Linda, too.  He was excited to see OC Supervisor Don Wagner help light the Menorah on the 4th day of celebration. Joining in the celebration was Dr, Jacob Eisenbach, a 99 year old VP resident that was a survivor of the Holocaust.   Latkas and donuts were enjoyed along with special monetary gifts.   Thanks go to the Edison Company for their financial support of this inclusive community event.
